Virus Filter Membrane Material
Nylon
Offers excellent mechanical strength and chemical stability, suitable for aqueous solutions, alcohols, and alkaline solutions. However, Nylon membranes can adsorb proteins and are not ideal for strong acids or protein-containing solutions.
Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF)
Exhibits strong chemical resistance, compatible with a wide range of organic solvents, acidic and alkaline solutions. Its low adsorption makes it ideal for filtering proteins and other biological samples.
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)
Possesses the highest chemical resistance, compatible with virtually all types of organic solvents and acid-base solutions, especially suitable for highly corrosive samples. Due to its hydrophobic nature, pre-wetting is required before filtering aqueous solutions.
Cellulose Acetate (CA)
Highly hydrophilic with low adsorption, suitable for aqueous solutions and biological samples. However, it has poor resistance to organic solvents and is not recommended for samples containing them.
Polyethersulfone (PES)
Features high flow rates and low protein adsorption, making it suitable for filtering large sample volumes, especially biological products and pharmaceutical samples.
Glass Fiber (GF)
Primarily used for coarse filtration and pre-filtration, ideal for samples containing large particulates or as a pre-filter for syringe filters.
Avoid excessive force
Applying too much pressure can cause the filter membrane to rupture, leading to sample splatter, contamination, or even personal injury.
Proper disposal of used filters
